Position Description

SUMMARY: Coordinate, facilitate and document training for new hires and general welder advancement. Ensure the accuracy and completion of appropriate training steps/procedures and manage documentation for training program. Assist in weld certification and certification maintenance processes and manage weld certification documentation. Participate and practice safe workplace practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

• Work with the welding supervisor to further develop weld training and advancement plans.
• Ensure new and established welders are completing assigned advancement and safety trainings
• Deliver on the job training to all newly hired welders
• Teach proper grinding techniques to all new welders
• Deliver on the job classification progression training for all established welders
• Assist in the administration of applicant weld testing
• Track, maintain and post welding production skills matrix
• Ensure accurate training documentation
• Assist the supervisor with implementation and maintenance of weld certifications
• Assist with the disposition of weld quality rejects
• Serve as the coordinator and a leader for a variety of safety, training, Lean and other projects as requested
• In the absence of the welding supervisor, welding trainer will assume responsibilities of the supervisor

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Must be proficient in MIG, TIG
• Strong comprehension of welding blueprints.
• Strong project management skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to establish constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Communication proficiency including the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities.
• Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
• Problem solving, analysis skills.
• Technical skills as they pertain to this job including but not limited to the use of an ERP system and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals.

Welding AAS degree and 7+ years progressive welding experience.
Project management and experience highly favorable.
Ability to teach, coach, and mentor

Work performed mainly in an office environment. Occasionally work may be performed in a shop environment where employee is exposed to dust, odors, fumes, heat, loud noise and other elements.
